Operating Officers & Governing Board A message from the President... Thank you for your interest in Southwest Bible College and Seminary. Our degree programs are designed for the busy pastor or Christian worker that cannot leave their church or job to attend a campus, or those who need credentials to pursue their calling in the ministry but find the cost of attending a campus has become too expensive. Dr. Ralph Winter defines extension education as "any method of education which does not disrupt the learner's productive relations to society. In the case of theological education, it is the seminary that extends (into) the life-cycle of the student." The instruction and curriculum of S.B.C.S. is totally Bible-centered and based. Most of our students are being referred by pastors that are enrolled in our school or have completed a degree program.. Southwest Bible College & Seminary is a nonprofit Christian College & Seminary organized under the provision of R. S. 1950, title 12, Chapter 2 in the State of Louisiana and has received its seal from the Secretary of State, the Honorable Fox McKeithin in July 1995. S.B.C.S. was founded to make available affordable degree programs in Theology, Biblical Studies, Church Ministries, Christian Counseling and Christian Education. Hundreds of pastors, educators, evangelists, counselors, and church workers have expressed how the courses have helped their ministries. They have also expressed their gratitude to S.B.C.S. for its conservative stance, Bible-centered instructions and curriculum. S.B.C.S. has experienced tremendous growth in the past four years. The school has grown from a few students to over 1200 and is growing daily. S.B.C.S. is accredited by the American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions. With the Lord as our head, the Word of God as our authority and the Holy Spirit as our guide, we happily anticipate the coming years.
We seek to provide our students with scriptural training: 1) To prepare them for effective Christian service in all Christian fields of employment. 2) To provide the foundation needed for a life of evangelism and service. 3) To strengthen the student's personal ability to become a more effective minister of God's Word to the lost. Our objective is to keep tuition as low as possible, making advanced degrees affordable without sacrificing the quality of curriculum. Our primary purpose and objective is summed up in these words, "Help the servant of God to be better equipped to disciple others." Southwest Bible College & Seminary takes the great commission of the Lord seriously.
The Bible We believe that the Bible is the Word of God without error or omission. It is the absolute authority in determining the faith and practice of God's people. We affirm that it is divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. The Trinity We believe in one God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is Creator and Sustainer of all things. God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He has created all things for His glory. His ultimate will will be accomplished according to His appointed time. God has also revealed Himself to us as God the Son, the promised Messiah of the Old Testament. God the Son, who always existed with the Father, became man through a miraculous birth of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit. Through God the Son (Jesus Christ) God was revealed to mankind. He lived a perfect life. died to redeem man, rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of God interceding for all believers. He will return one day to receive the saved, (His Church) unto Himself. He shall reign forever as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. We believe in God the Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit always existed and is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, pointing the sinner to Jesus Christ for regeneration and cleansing from sin. He is given to every born again believer to teach, guide, strengthen and bring about sanctification in them. He gives gifts to the different members of the body of Christ (His Church) for the edification of the body and to carry on His work. He also seals believers unto the day of redemption. The Sinful Nature of Man We believe that man was created by God in His image. Man was tempted by Satan, sinned, and since that time all men have been born in a sinful state. Because of this sinful state, man willfully chooses to sin. Sin is rebellion against God. It is missing the mark of perfection. Only those who are perfectly righteous may come into the presence of a righteous God. Since all have sinned and come short of that mark of perfection, all of mankind needs reconciliation to God. God has provided one way of reconciliation to Himself. That way is by repentance of sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Christ is Savior We believe that every individual is condemned through their sins, and without Jesus Christ salvation is impossible. We believe that everyone must accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to escape condemnation. He is the way, the truth, and the life. NO one comes to the Father unless they come through faith in Him.
